Explore the exciting world of manga, anime, and cartoons in this fun, creative class with Emily! Students will learn the fundamentals of character drawing, design, and visual storytelling while exploring how artists use expression, movement, and style to bring characters and stories to life. The class also introduces the rich history of manga — from its roots in traditional Japanese art to the rise of anime and modern animation in the 20th century.
Through guided lessons, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, students will study iconic works, develop original characters, and create dynamic scenes and posters inspired by both manga and cartoon storytelling traditions. Beginners are encouraged, and returning students will build on their skills with new prompts, deeper character development, and expanded creative challenges.
Whether you love manga, anime, or cartoons — or are simply interested in drawing characters and telling stories through art — this class will help bring your ideas to life through sketching and drawing in an engaging visual language. *All levels welcome*
