This two-day workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced students, providing an opportunity to explore and problem-solve the integration of form and surface in pottery.
The first day will focus on creating functional sets, with an emphasis on preparing forms for specific surface designs. In the morning, there will be a lecture and demonstrations, followed by hands-on instruction in the afternoon to guide students in designing their own unique pieces. On the second day, students will learn a variety of surface design techniques, from working with leather-hard clay to bisque-fired work. Sgraffito, slip-trailing, and glaze-inlay techniques will be demonstrated. The afternoon session will allow participants to apply these new skills, experimenting with different methods to enhance the visual and tactile qualities of their work.
